One of the benefits of using Manchester airport is the fact that there is a direct train service to and from the airport. This is obviously an advantage to people who are based around the north of England because you can just leap onto a train and be at the airport early. But we have to be realistic here; the public transport system in Britain hardly compares with the likes of Germany and Switzerland and whilst the situation has somewhat improved in the last decade it still isn’t anything to shout about. If you are on a busy schedule and have a plane to catch I wouldn’t be one of the few people who trust the train system to get me there on time – the head just tells you that it will be one of the times that the train is delayed, which will result in a frantic and frankly stressful build up to check-in – not the best way to prepare for your trip!

It is much less stressful to use the car park at the airport instead. You are completely in control of your journey and, with the motorways generally reliable, you have no worries about being held up; even if there is an accident there are other roads to divert onto. Plus, you can securely park your car all week and not have to worry about catching a train when you get back in, probably tired. The car park makes everything easier and is certainly a better option than public transport!
