Although I didn’t realize it until the other day, my semester at university is just about to come to an end. The crazy thing about realizing that this semester is winding down to end is knowing that once it does, I will have six semesters successfully completed, which means that I will be over halfway done with my time at university. After this semester is over, I will be heading back home to spend my summer living with my parents in the house I grew up in. While many people cringe at the thought of living with their parents, this is the only time of the year that I really get to see them, so I actually enjoy it. Before I actually finish the semester and move back home, I have to finish all of my final examinations.

In spite of the fact that I have several buddies who are absolutely dreading the prospect of taking their final examinations, I have already put in a lot of time studying, so I couldn’t feel any better about my own. To give myself a reward for my upcoming strong performance on my final examinations, I have already made some summer plans. After I get settled into my parent’s place in Manchester, I have a Manchester airport car rental reserved for my buddy and I. Having the Manchester airport car rental will give us the ability to take a road trip and kick off the summer in a fun way. I decided to take this friend with me on the road trip because we always have a great time together, and I know we are going to have a blast being out on the open road with each other.

Over the past few weeks, people have been going crazy over the news that the H1N1 flu virus (which you may also know as the swine flu virus) is spreading across the globe. When the swine flu virus started appearing in Mexico, it killed a significant amount of people (many of who were previously healthy young adults). While swine flu has continued to spread throughout the world (appearing in everywhere from the United States to Australia), it’s percentage of fatalities have decreased significantly. The strange thing is that while you can look at the facts and see that the deadliness of this flu virus has decreased, people and officials seem just as worried as ever. While I find it strange that there is still such a high level of worry about swine flu, a lot of nations are still taking steps to try and lessen the fears of their citizens.

Because I planned it over three months ago, I have decided that regardless of all these swine flu worries, I am not canceling that trip I have planned. I already planned on taking a trip to Manchester in the middle of the summer, and I’m not going to let this swine flu issue deter me from visiting Manchester (which is a place I have wanted to go for awhile now). Since I have already taken care of booking my hotel room, Manchester airport car rental and flight, it would take something much more serious than this current swine flu issue for me to cancel my whole trip. Fortunately, since there is still some time until my trip starts, I’m hoping people will have calmed down about swine flu and moved on to the next thing that the media is making a big deal out of!
